President Museveni’s Suggestions for Forest Protection

President Museveni's Suggestions for Forest Protection

President Museveni welcomed the European Union's partnership to protect forests and the environment. He had two suggestions for the EU:

    1. Clearly define natural forests and protected areas, like national parks, separate from wood-lots on private land. This way, we can protect ecosystems without hindering development.
    2. Expand regulations to include wetlands.

He thanked EU Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Virginijus Sinkevičiu, for launching the Forestry programme and expressed eagerness to collaborate for biodiversity conservation, management, and fair benefit-sharing.
