I spent the day in Masindi District at the invitation of Hon. Balaam Barugahara, the youth minister, where I addressed local leaders and later held a rally. My message is clear: the medicine to fighting poverty is engaging in wealth-creation activities to increase household incomes and create jobs. Demanding roads, electricity, and hospitals may not necessarily solve household income problems. There’s a difference between development and wealth. The government can develop the country by providing better services such as roads, electricity, and hospitals. However, it cannot put food on your table or create wealth for you; you need to work to eliminate poverty from your homes.
