President Museveni Presents Ambassador Olara Otunnu as Uganda’s Candidate for UN Secretary-General

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has formally presented Ambassador Olara Otunnu as Uganda’s candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General.

During a meeting with ambassadors representing members of the United Nations Security Council at State House Entebbe, President Museveni called on the diplomats to convey Uganda’s endorsement of Ambassador Otunnu’s candidature to their respective governments.

President Museveni described Ambassador Otunnu as an experienced and accomplished diplomat with the integrity, leadership qualities, and diplomatic credentials required to serve at the highest level of the United Nations.

The President also highlighted Uganda’s contribution to regional peace and security, as well as the country’s long-standing role in hosting refugees from neighbouring countries. He noted that these efforts reflect Uganda’s commitment to international cooperation, peace, stability, and humanitarian responsibility.

Uganda’s support for Ambassador Otunnu’s candidature underscores the country’s confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership at the United Nations and contribute to addressing global peace, security, development, and humanitarian challenges.
