President Museveni Presides Over Swearing-In of Three Ministers, Calls for Accountability in Government

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has presided over the swearing-in of three newly appointed ministers at State House, Entebbe.

The ministers who took the oath of office are Hon. Amb. Adonia Ayebare, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Shartsi Kutesa Musherure, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of Micro-Finance; and Hon. Witonze Juma, Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

President Museveni congratulated the ministers on their appointments and urged them to prioritise the fight against corruption and inefficiency in government. He emphasised the importance of proper supervision, accountability and effective service delivery across government institutions.

The President also addressed the issue of dual citizenship, explaining that the arrangement was introduced in response to Uganda's difficult history and the circumstances that forced many Ugandans to live abroad.

However, President Museveni stressed the importance of clarity and commitment when it comes to national loyalty, noting that individuals should be clear about where their allegiance lies.

Looking at the wider region, President Museveni pointed to the East African Federation as the long-term solution to questions of identity, citizenship and regional integration.

He noted that deeper East African integration would help address many of the challenges surrounding national identity while strengthening unity and cooperation among countries in the region.
