Boosting Industrial Growth and Food Value Addition Through Cassava Processing in Nakasongola

On my way to address a public rally in Nakasongola town, I stopped to commission Pura Organic Agro Tech Limited, a cassava processing factory. Cassava starch production is vital for key sectors, including pharmaceuticals, which rely heavily on supplies. I commend Ugandan cassava outgrowers for seizing this opportunity. I also encourage local cassava processors to explore indigenous nutritious food varieties to add value. Medicines are expensive, largely due to our reliance on imported starch from India, so I’m pleased this factory will reduce costs. However, I am disappointed by those undermining these investments, including individuals vandalising electricity poles and causing power outages. We will address these challenges.
