Italian Investors Propose Railway Project in Uganda

A group of Italian investors, led by the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, Mauro Massoni, visited State House Entebbe. They expressed their interest in funding and building a railway from Tororo to Majanji and a port at Majanji.

The President was pleased with this proposal as it will boost trade in Northern Uganda and nearby countries. We are starting to build the Standard Gauge Railway from the Kenyan border to Kampala. Since building the railway from Tanzania will take longer, we can use the lake route through Majanji Island to Tororo in the meantime. I support this idea.
