Meeting on Sudan's Conflict

This afternoon, I chaired a crucial African Union Peace and Security Council meeting focusing on the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The war in Sudan is a tragic reminder of the consequences of political errors. Embracing politics of identity over people's interests, resorting to force instead of dialogue, and using unprepared individuals with misguided ideologies have fueled this catastrophe.

War crimes stem from these grave missteps. It's time for the Sudanese factions to cease hostilities, engage in dialogue, and entrust their nation back to its true custodians – the Sudanese people. Peace is achievable if we rectify these errors and prioritize the well-being of all Sudanese citizens.
