As Uganda prepares for its National Population and Housing Census 2024, set to commence tomorrow, the Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) SPA/PA, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has rallied all citizens to actively participate in this crucial exercise.

Speaking from the ONC head offices in Kyambogo on Thursday afternoon, just a day before the census kick-off, Uzeiye emphasized the significance of every Ugandan being counted.

"I call upon all Ugandans of all walks of life to get counted. Figures matter as they enable rightful planning. For purposes of socio-economic transformation of Uganda, it is important that we get counted," she urged.

Her statements re echo those of President Yoweri Museveni who released a video message on Thursday morning urging citizens to participate in the exercise.

The National Population and Housing Census, conducted every ten years, holds immense importance for the nation's development planning and resource allocation. With the reference night set as May 9th, 2024, the census will span ten days until May 19th, 2024.

President Museveni launched the NPHC 2024 activity on December 12th, 2023, underlining the government's commitment to collecting accurate demographic, social, and economic data for informed decision-making.

Unlike previous census exercises, this year's census will leverage digital technology for data collection, processing, and dissemination. This modern approach is expected to streamline the process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the production of statistics by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).
