NRM National Chairman's Office Visits Near-Completion Karuma Hydropower Project

Representatives from the office of the NRM National Chairman, Kyambogo, specifically coordinators from Bunyoro Subregion, recently toured the Karuma Hydropower project in Karuma, Kiryandongo District.

During the visit, the engineers provided insights, noting that the project is on the verge of completion, currently at 98%, and is awaiting commissioning.

Funded by the Government of Uganda, the Karuma hydropower project is part of a broader initiative to implement various projects across the country. The primary goal is to generate sufficient power, thereby facilitating industrialization not only in Uganda but also in the broader East Africa region.

Once operational, the Karuma Hydropower plant is expected to generate 600MW, resulting in a significant reduction in tariffs, which will undoubtedly contribute to the economic development of the region
