President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has paid tribute to the founding fathers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), applauding their vision and courage in establishing a platform that resisted global domination and external influence which emerged in the 1940s.

He noted that the flawed attempts at global hegemony have repeatedly failed throughout history — from the religious and political dominance in Europe to the colonial powers that sought to subjugate Africa, only for their empires to collapse under the weight of resistance and justice.

Reflecting on the strong participation and renewed momentum under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Prosperity,” President Museveni emphasized that Africa now stands as a beacon of hope for a fairer, more balanced world order.

“As a third-generation anti-colonial fighter from Africa, I believe we may indeed be the hope of the world,” he remarked, highlighting the continent’s unwavering commitment to sovereignty, unity, and equitable global development.
