President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today commissioned a new batch of officer cadets at the Uganda Military Academy in Kabamba. He congratulated the new officers on their remarkable achievement and expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and his commanders for their exceptional dedication in training the officers.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, President Museveni emphasized four guiding principles essential for every member of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF):
Health (Afya) – “Take care of your health; it is the foundation for serving effectively.”
Discipline (Nidhamu) – “Discipline is the core of a soldier’s life. It enables coordination and efficiency within the force.”
Patriotism (Uzalendo) – “A true soldier of Uganda must embrace national pride, reject colonial mindsets, and uphold the principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-Economic Transformation, and Democracy.”
Knowledge (Utalaamu) – “Acquire thorough knowledge in military matters, especially modern warfare, to remain effective and competent in service.”
President Museveni urged the new officers to carry these principles into their service, alongside the entire UPDF, as they contribute to the defence and development of the nation.
