President Museveni Calls for Smarter Land Use and Increased Productivity in Kazo

President Museveni today addressed residents of Kazo, commending them for embracing the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) message of wealth creation. He noted that over the last 40 years, the NRM has laid seven strong pillars that continue to drive Uganda’s progress, and he encouraged the community to build upon this foundation.

During the address, President Museveni emphasized the importance of maximizing productivity from available land. He urged farmers to adopt zero-grazing practices, explaining that free-range grazing leads to significant land wastage. He highlighted that while one square mile under free-range can support about 200 cows, the same space can accommodate more than 500 cows when planted pasture and zero-grazing systems are used.

President Museveni also cautioned the people of Kazo against underutilizing vast pieces of land and advised strongly against subdividing family land after the death of parents, as this reduces its economic value. He pointed to success stories such as Nyakaana of Fort Portal and Joseph Ijala of Serere—individuals with less than 10 acres who are earning substantial incomes through proper land management.

He further noted that Uganda’s milk and coffee production has significantly increased because many citizens embraced dairy farming and coffee planting under Operation Wealth Creation. President Museveni encouraged the people of Kazo to remain committed to this path of productivity and sustainable wealth creation.
