Building Progress Together and Engaging Trade Unions Ahead of Labour Day 2025

I welcomed to State House Entebbe leaders of various trade unions for discussions ahead of the 2025 Labour Day celebrations. We addressed key worker issues like minimum wage, low-cost housing, and training institutions. I also reminded them of the NRM's vital role in Uganda's development. The factories and the services sector—hotels, telecoms, transport—were not here before. They are here now because of what the NRM has done. While I endorse minimum wage, I emphasise a careful approach because the NRM never engages in okutomera – bumping into things. It must come in a healthy manner. I wish all Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, a happy Labour Day.
