President Museveni, accompanied by Maama Janet Museveni, visited Nakasongola District and addressed the Abaruuli community, reaffirming the National Resistance Movement’s commitment to inclusive development, equality, and improved social services.
The President expressed gratitude to God for the progress witnessed in the district over the years. He noted that when he first visited Nakasongola, the population stood at about 50,000, compared to over 226,000 today. This growth, he observed, is a clear sign that children are surviving, diseases are being controlled, and development is steadily taking shape—achievements made possible by peace, stability, and the NRM’s consistent leadership.

President Museveni reminded the people that the NRM firmly believes in equality and respect for all communities. He cited the restoration of the Kabakaship as an example of the government’s respect for the will of the people and cultural rights. He emphasized that no community should be denied its language, identity, or rights, stressing that what benefits one community ultimately benefits the entire nation.
On health service delivery, the President announced plans to upgrade Malaba, Iyolwa, and Paaya health facilities to Health Centre IV status. In addition, several Health Centre IIs will be elevated to ensure that sub-counties currently without health facilities are adequately served.
Regarding education, President Museveni reiterated the government’s position that school fees in government schools must be eliminated, noting that such charges force many children out of school. He emphasised that peace and stability have been the foundation of Uganda’s progress and will continue to guide the government’s efforts.
The President concluded by urging the people of Nakasongola to vote for the NRM on January 15 to sustain development in the district and across Uganda.
