President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, together with Maama Janet Museveni and the NRM leadership, officially launched the NRM campaign in the Greater Mukono region at Kayunga. During the engagement, the President acknowledged the progress made in service delivery across the area but strongly reminded wananchi that government programmes must be actively supervised by the people themselves.
The President emphasised that essential services such as medicines in public health centres and funds under the Parish Development Model (PDM) belong to the people and must be protected from misuse. He called on voters to elect committed NRM leaders who are capable of monitoring government programmes, ensuring proper implementation, and taking responsibility for results at all levels.
Addressing concerns raised by the Bakuku community regarding the denial of passports, President Museveni clarified that citizenship by birth, registration, or naturalisation is a constitutional right. He stressed that no eligible Ugandan should be denied services due to unnecessary bureaucracy and directed relevant authorities to uphold the law fairly and efficiently.
The President further highlighted government priorities aimed at job creation, including commercial agriculture, irrigation, skills development, and industrialisation. He encouraged the people of Kayunga to identify land for the establishment of an industrial park to support local employment and economic growth. He also reaffirmed that the Constitution protects all land tenure systems and safeguards tenants from illegal evictions, underscoring the government’s commitment to land security and social justice for all Ugandans.
