President Museveni today officially launched his campaign in the Busoga Sub-Region, beginning with a major address in Bugiri. During his speech, President Museveni reminded the people of Busoga that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) united Ugandans and put an end to the divisive, sectarian politics that marked the early post-independence era. He emphasised that valuing every Ugandan created lasting peace—peace that has since formed the foundation for the country’s steady development.

President Museveni highlighted Busoga’s share of national progress, noting key infrastructure achievements such as the Jinja–Kampala Highway, the Jinja–Iganga–Bugiri–Tororo Road, the Jinja–Kamuli–Mbulamuti Road, and the upgraded Iganga–Kaliro Road—four modern tarmac roads that have improved connectivity and supported economic growth across the region.
He further assured residents that the government will continue upgrading more critical routes, including the Jinja–Kamuli–Mbulamuti Road, Iganga–Kaliro Road, Bugiri–Namayingo Road, and essential town roads. He added that the revival of the railway network remains a priority, with the goal of reducing transport costs for traders, farmers, and businesses.
On water supply, President Museveni explained that boreholes are not a sustainable solution for Bugiri. Instead, the government will implement a modern water system by pumping water from Lake Victoria—just as was successfully done in Lira—to ensure residents have access to clean, reliable water for years to come.
