Regarding the war on imports, I have, this afternoon at State House Entebbe, engaged with stakeholders under the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association in the textile sector to gather thoughts on duty per kilo (percentage tax on the weight in kilograms for imported textiles).

We need to find the best ways to keep out foreign textiles and boost our local production. Revitalizing the country's textile industry is crucial as a key driver of economic growth. We shall also look at additional measures to strengthen the sector. I thank them for coming.
