President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, together with the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, began the day at Munyonyo where he officially opened the 1st Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Community Common Higher Education Area (EACCHEA).
In his address, President Museveni called upon all East African nations to embrace regional integration as the most effective pathway to prosperity, security, and transformation.
He emphasized that unity in education, trade, and governance will not only expand markets but also help the region overcome the divisive politics of identity. The President further noted that education systems across East Africa must be tailored to prepare citizens to thrive within a competitive regional market, thereby accelerating socio-economic transformation.
“A prosperous East Africa is within our reach when we stand together and work tirelessly for our shared future. Through integration, every citizen can benefit from the opportunities our region has to offer,” President Museveni affirmed.
The conference marks a significant milestone in advancing cooperation within the higher education sector, setting a strong foundation for the future of regional development and integration.
