President Museveni Directs NRM MPs to Intensify Fight Against Corruption and Monitor Government Programmes

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed NRM Members of Parliament to take a firm stand against corruption and strengthen oversight of government programmes to ensure that they deliver meaningful benefits to Ugandans.

The President made the remarks during a meeting with the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at Munyonyo, where he shared key concerns raised by wananchi during the recent campaigns.

President Museveni specifically called for decisive action against corruption in the health sector and irregularities affecting the Parish Development Model (PDM). He highlighted the theft of medicines, absenteeism among health workers, diversion of PDM funds, and the sale of government jobs as practices that must be stopped.

The President urged NRM MPs to speak out against corruption without fear and closely monitor the implementation of government programmes in their constituencies.

President Museveni emphasised that government resources and programmes are intended to improve the lives of Ugandans and must therefore be protected from misuse, theft, and poor implementation.

He called on legislators to strengthen their oversight role and ensure that public services and development programmes reach the people they are intended to benefit.
