President Museveni Commends the People of Maracha and Reaffirms Commitment to Free Education and Skills Training

President Museveni Commends the People of Maracha

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended heartfelt appreciation to the people of Maracha for the warm reception accorded to him, the First Lady Maama Janet Museveni, and the entire NRM team during their visit.

Highlighting the progress of education in the district, President Museveni noted that Maracha now boasts 62 government primary schools and 7 government secondary schools, in addition to several private institutions. He emphasized, however, that private schools often cater to those who can afford them, while government schools remain essential in ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to education.

The President reminded citizens of the original intent behind introducing free education in Uganda, expressing concern that some schools had reintroduced charges that hinder children from poor families from studying.

To further enhance access to practical learning, President Museveni cited the establishment of the Presidential Skilling Hubs across the country—one in each region—as a clear demonstration that free, hands-on education and skills training are achievable when managed with dedication and efficiency.

He reaffirmed his government’s continued commitment to empowering Ugandan youth through education and vocational training as a pathway to self-reliance and national development.
