The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) recently introduced a village-to-village mobilization campaign to bolster support for the ruling party(NRM) ahead of the upcoming Local Council One (LC1) and women's council elections. Launched on October 20, 2023, at the ONC offices in Kyambogo, Kampala, this campaign also aims to promote community development in government programs and encourage self-empowerment at the grassroots level.

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Head of ONC and Senior Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs announced that this mobilization campaign will be focused on individual villages to ensure the realization of the NRM Manifesto 2021-26. She encouraged young people to participate in the forthcoming LC1 elections, emphasizing that this engagement would enable them to be directly involved in government programs and secure their rights and empowerment from the ONC.

Namyalo expressed concerns about long-serving LC1 chairpersons who use their positions to collude with land grabbers, causing land disputes in communities. She urged the community to contest against such individuals in the upcoming LC1 elections to address this issue.

Hajjat Hadijah NamyaloShe also criticized opportunists using the President's name to engage in land-grabbing activities, stressing that such actions have negatively affected the NRM's support in various regions. Namyalo vowed to expose these "mafias" and their fraudulent actions.

During the event, Sheikh Sulaiman Guggwa, Uganda's Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, commended Namyalo for her efforts to unite the NRM party and expressed confidence in President Museveni's return in 2026.

The village-to-village campaign seeks to achieve improved access to healthcare and education, including the construction of healthcare centres and schools in remote areas. It also aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas in terms of service delivery.
