Eid Cup 2025: A Celebration of Unity Through Sports

Following the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations, Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Personal Assistant to the National Chairman of NRM, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, joined Muslim faithful at the Eid Cup Tournament held at Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The event attracted a large crowd in its second edition, including Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, and Sudan’s Ambassador to Uganda. Their presence emphasized the role of sports in promoting unity, cultural exchange, and diplomacy.

Hajjat Namyalo, who had earlier led Eid celebrations with the Muslim community, attended the tournament as part of her ongoing efforts to engage with Ugandans, particularly the youth.

A Growing Tradition in Uganda's Sporting Calendar

The Eid Cup has become one of Uganda’s most anticipated post-Ramadan sporting events, bringing together people from various sectors, including:

  • Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)
  • Parliament of Uganda
  • Uganda Police
  • Media personalities
  • Sheikhs and Imams
  • Digital media representatives
  • Hajjis and Corporate Organizations

Since the kickoff earlier in the day, 10 teams have battled for the championship in an exciting display of skill and sportsmanship.

Awards & Prizes

The tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony, where the top teams will receive:
🏆 Champions: UGX 3,000,000
🥈 Runners-up: UGX 2,000,000
🥉 Third place: UGX 1,000,000
🎖️ Trophies & medals (gold, silver, and bronze)
