President Museveni Welcomes Prince Edward for Talks on Collaboration

President Museveni recently met with Prince Edward, a member of the British royal family, at State House Entebbe. They discussed ways to strengthen ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

During their chat, President Museveni expressed interest in working with British investors and attracting more tourists from the UK. He mentioned assigning the British High Commissioner to Uganda, Kate Airey, to help with these efforts.

The President also wished King Charles III a speedy recovery after learning about his health from Prince Edward during the meeting.

Prince Edward expressed his fascination with Uganda and mentioned plans to return with his family to explore the country, especially its renowned gorillas. He highlighted the importance of promoting tourism for both nations.

In addition to economic cooperation, Prince Edward talked about the Commonwealth's efforts to engage young people through leadership programs. He shared how these initiatives empower youth to make positive changes in their communities.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, chaired by Prince Edward, aims to empower young Ugandans through service and skill development. They plan to expand their reach with support from sponsors and the government.

During the meeting, Mr. Blick William, the chairperson of the organization in Uganda, requested President Museveni to become its patron. The President accepted, recognizing the importance of nurturing future leaders.

British High Commissioner Kate Airey reiterated the strong bond between the UK and Uganda, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration and youth empowerment initiatives.
