President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held discussions with Tanzania’s Vice President, H.E. Deogratius John Ndejembi, on the sidelines of the Cultural Leaders Conference, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, economic integration and infrastructure development between Uganda and Tanzania.
During the meeting, Vice President Ndejembi delivered a special message from Tanzanian President H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan to President Museveni.
The two leaders discussed opportunities to deepen economic cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania, with particular attention to infrastructure projects that support trade, investment and regional connectivity.
A key area of discussion was the development of the oil pipeline, which forms part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the petroleum sector.
President Museveni emphasised the importance of strengthening economic integration, noting that closer cooperation would enable Uganda and Tanzania to expand trade, improve infrastructure and create more opportunities for economic growth.
He highlighted the need for infrastructure that connects the economies of neighbouring countries, allowing businesses and communities to benefit from larger regional markets.
The President further stressed that sustainable prosperity in East Africa depends on countries working together, developing shared infrastructure and removing barriers that limit trade and economic cooperation.
The meeting highlighted the continued engagement between Uganda and Tanzania on regional integration, infrastructure development and economic cooperation.
