This morning, President Yoweri Museveni officially welcomed Mr. Herbert Mensah, the President of Rugby Africa, along with his delegation to Uganda. The visit comes as part of the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup Trophy tour, in preparation for the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup.
President Museveni expressed his appreciation for Uganda’s inclusion in this prestigious tour, highlighting the importance of rugby not only as a demanding and fitness-enhancing sport, but also as a strong symbol of teamwork. “In rugby, success is not based on individual brilliance alone. It demands unity and shared effort—values that are essential for our country’s progress,” he remarked.
The President was pleasantly surprised by the delegation’s positive remarks on Uganda’s sports infrastructure. He noted that while development has begun, much more is planned. “What we built first was peace. Uganda was once a failed state, and everything we see today stands on that solid foundation,” he stated.
President Museveni concluded by wishing the Rugby Africa team success in the upcoming tournament and encouraged them to enjoy their stay in Uganda.
