In the lead-up to President Yoweri Museveni’s expected nomination as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer this Saturday, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has stepped up efforts to support local communities.
Today, ONC Manager Hajat Hadijah Namyalo led a major empowerment initiative at Katwe Playgrounds in Kampala, where thousands—mainly youth—gathered to receive livelihood support items.
The distributed items included over 20 boda-boda motorcycles, 300 sewing machines, 300 hair dryers, 50 welding machines, and grinding machines, among other tools. These initiatives are designed to help beneficiaries start or grow small businesses and enhance their economic well-being.
In her remarks, Namyalo called on the youth—referred to as "Bazzukulu"—to show their support for President Museveni by attending the nomination event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
“This empowerment drive is a clear demonstration of NRM’s commitment to uplifting the lives of Ugandans, particularly the youth,” she said. “Let’s all turn up in large numbers on Saturday to back our leader as he seeks another term.”
The event highlights the NRM’s focus on youth empowerment and grassroots mobilisation in the lead-up to key political milestones.
