I spent the day at the Uganda Military Academy in Kabamba, commissioning 203 officer cadets. These cadets included those who completed a degree from Makerere University alongside their training, those who finished the officer course, and professionals like engineers and doctors who underwent six months of military training. In the past, the big problem was having an army of illiterate people, yet fighting requires knowledge. Congratulations to the graduates, and I thank the UPDF for its continued professional development. I welcome the cadets and instructors from South Sudan, Rwanda, and other brotherly East African countries.
