This afternoon, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, extended Ramadan relief support to fasting Muslim inmates at Luzira Maximum Security Prison as part of an ongoing nationwide outreach program.
The donation, made on behalf of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is intended to support Muslim faithful observing the holy month of Ramadan, including those within correctional facilities. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and care for all members of society during this sacred period.
During her visit, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of compassion, unity, and social responsibility. She underscored that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves dignity and support. She also highlighted the core values of Ramadan—discipline, patience, and generosity—as guiding principles for both individuals and communities.
The prison’s Rehabilitation Officer, Hajjat Nuru Kateregga, used the occasion to draw attention to the need for additional support for the facility’s bakery section. This program plays a vital role in equipping inmates with practical vocational skills that aid in their reintegration into society upon release.
In response, Hajjat Namyalo donated three bakery mixers to enhance the institution’s training capacity and improve productivity. The equipment is expected to significantly strengthen the rehabilitation efforts within the prison.
The items were officially received by Jackson Kwehangana, Officer in Charge of Security and Safety, who expressed appreciation for the support. He noted that such contributions not only improve operational capacity but also boost the morale and welfare of both inmates and staff during the Ramadan period.
This outreach forms part of ONC’s broader Ramadan initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable Muslim communities across Uganda, reinforcing the spirit of generosity and national unity.
