Kiseka Market Vendors Seek President's Help in Land Dispute

Kiseka Market vendors have urgently asked President Yoweri Museveni to help resolve a long-standing land dispute over their market. Frustrated by unfulfilled promises, the vendors went to the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) on Wednesday afternoon.

The group handed their petition to the ONC Manager, Special Presidential Assistant Hajjat Hadija Namyalo Uzeiye. They explained that the land promised to them for market redevelopment has not been given to them. Instead, they claim the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is giving the land to foreign investors.

"Our livelihood depends on this market, and we have waited patiently for the promised redevelopment. But now, we see the land being given away to foreign interests," said a spokesperson for the vendors.

Hajjat Hadija Namyalo Uzeiye promised to pass their concerns to President Museveni. "I understand your frustration and the importance of this issue. I will ensure that your plea reaches the president," she said.

The vendors hope that the president's intervention will speed up the resolution of the land issue, allowing them to redevelop Kiseka Market.
